He first acted in a High School performance of The King And I. Kerr completed an undergraduate degree in Business administration. He was an extra in the movie Twelve Monkeys. He starred as Ryder Hughes on As The World Turns. The role on the soap won Him a Best New Actor award. Kerr has also done commercial work. Kerr also had a role in the movieKiss and Tell. He was also in Final Destination.
